Thank you everyone for your support of me running the marathon and for contributing to the UCSF Children's Hospital. A total of 33 people contributed raising over $2,000 for the hospital, WOW! and as reported to me I do not think that includes the company matching, which could more than double it.
The marathon went relatively well, for my first. I was feeling really strong at the mid-point and was right on target for my hopeful completion time. However, around mile 16 I started getting cramps in my left leg which made the last miles tough. A lot of stretching it out, walking and slowing down a bunch. I still pushed through and finished with a 4hr 25min 37sec time, I was hoping for under 4 hours.
All in all, I'm happy for completing my first, but now I want to run a clean race to see how I do.
Special thanks to Bill Bangs and our BabyCenter Running Club, tentatively titled Baby Steps. Also, a huge thanks goes to Danelle my wife who put up with all my hours training and offering an amazing amount of support, plus waiting an extra 30 minutes at the finish line.
